When your pay becomes solely for food
And no longer is there leisure to include

You know pride is no longer a choice
You need someone to hear your voice

Your cry of help and despair
For someone to bring you care

Because your children can't live alone
This is not the childhood they should've known

With a hope things will turn around
A hope our country won't run through the ground

For with the times in which so hard to cope
All that's left is that one little hope
I recently did a research project on the great depression in which my eyes were open to the personal feelings of an average american during the time period... this is just based of a personal experience from an anonymous person who lived during the endeavor

That's a really nice poem Meg. I think you captured the feeling of the despair and hardship of the Great Depression well.
